I can see the reason why Mike's overly proud and happy that he appears on a photo or TV commercial, even so that his face is covered, is because he has been ignored most of his childhood and to get even the slightest recognition, he's delighted. For a monster that has been ridiculed and ignored earlier on in his life, he is very strong willed, optimistic and confident so he has no trouble with self esteem at all, in fact he has the opposite of low self esteem. He must have great and supportive parents too, as shown in the bonus "Put that thing back where it came from" musical short with his mom cheering in the end.
There has been some continuity with his paperwork procrastination, there was a sticky note in his locker that's meant to remind him to file his paperwork at the end of MU.

Yeah, a friend of mine actually has evidence against that claim: in one of the books for MI, it is revealed that he's 25 at that time, meaning he'd be only 38, now. But yeah, I hope more clarification is given, myself: for one, as a musician big on retro music, I can say that Swedish House Mafia (whose music was playing at the ROR party) is NOT '90s at all. Yeah see, I had heard years ago that it was revealed he was 25. But that was well before PIXAR came up with the idea for MU. So if he WAS 25, then that means he'd have only been about 15 or 16 when he started college, and that's obviously not right. So we're led to believe he's actually between 27 and 29 during MI. So based on that...if we skip ahead 13 years to this day, he'd be about 40 or 41. Honestly....it's so confusing to me I really don't want to think about it. I saw a post on tumblr that went into incredible detail about all the different dates and calculations and my brain was screaming. Until there's definite confirmation of his age, we can just take our best guess based on the evidence we've been given. One of my headcanons is that I like to think he was a college prodigy though at 15. He looks so young in MU!

There's been a popular headcanon/canon(?) that Randall is 40 or 41 years old....I don't want to think he's that old! ^^; (I know it's canon that MU took place 10 years before MI and with speculations on Mike's calendar, but we don't know for sure if it took place in the 1990s or not, feel free to correct me if the directors said anything about the time period) But if a sequel is to be made, I'm sure the directors will reveal when it has taken place after the events of MI.

Johnny reminds me a bit of Bradley Uppercrust III from An Extremely Goofy Movie. Same taste in clothing, same overconfidence about their ability to win a sporting competition, same role as rival to the protagonist's underdog team. I've got to look and see if I can find the tumblr post comparing Johnny Worthington to Gaston and Chet to Lefou (Beauty And The Beast.) That was pretty funny. I made that post! It's the highest number of notes I've ever had. inyourdisneydreams.tumblr.com/post/55382666332/am-i-the-only-one-who-sees-this-connection Over 2000 NOTES! Johnny sort of reminds me of Gaston but Gaston is worse of a jerk than Johnny. They do look similar by looks and personality, but at least Johnny isn't sexist like Gaston is.

What do you picture yourself in five years Randall?

Sulley: Well..Mike can be a bit of a drama queen by complaining over the littlest things.
Claire: What is your favorite color?

Anyone ever seen Castle? I saw bits of it and my mom watches it sometimes. It's interesting. I accepted that headcanon of Johnny Worthington being into the murder mystery genre since the idea appeared on tumblr.

I was thinking about it though and it does sound a little...uh.... WOOBIFYING? "AAAWWW RANDY WAS AN ORPHAN LET ME HOLD YOU, YOU'RE NOT A BAD PERSON SO MISTUNDERSTooD, STROKES HIS FACE, chokes and dies oN randy woobing" but not entirely, disney has made villains orphans in the past, that whole tragic backstory ding dong. it doesnt mean that theyre not bad people, it just means that something in their past slowly made them that way i.e. rejection. i GUESSSS I think woobification can be a valid concern. Overall though sometimes bad things can explain a character and add depth to them sometimes. Overall however the full process of woobification isn't necessarily giving them a rough background- it would probably be pulling the idea 'You had a hard life, everything bad you do is wiped clean as a result. Nothing bad you do is really your fault at all. You are 100% blameless.' Which is yeah.... no. The bad things, the unlucky things in life can explain the character and their behaviour though they don't utterly absolve them of their wrong doing. Past experiences and present circumstances or motives and skewed perspectives can help shape who we are, no question, and sometimes things get complicated, but there can still be an element of choice. I think I can get why Randall acts the way he does and even sympathies but that doesn't mean that automatically wipes the slate clean or he's utterly innocent. There's certain paths we go down- that sometimes life can seemingly push us down but we can still try and say no. Sometimes this is easier said then done, clearly, but still. It's a possible choice. Randall in MI is incredibly bitter and has been stewing on his hatred for years- and probably reminded of it each time he looks at the board or looks to his right to Sulley's door station things getting worse as the whole scream extractor plot utterly fails to gain him praise from Waternoose. It may seem petty sure, but yeah I think it's been building up for a long time and it doesn't exactly surprise me is hardly cut up on the idea of killing Sulley when given the orders by Waternoose- even if what he wanted in the long term is them both working as janitors (probably) forgotten in history and hopefully miserable why he is remembered and adored. Sulley is continually in his way on the scare floor and then both he and Mike have the 'audacity'; to get in the way of his other project to eventually get noticed. Maybe Randall even thinks Sulley is a cheater. Who the heck knows. He takes joy in Mike and Sulley's pain and distress however in any case. There can be reasons for it sure. But does that make it remotely okay? Does that automatically wipe the slate clean? Of course not. Reasons make for interesting characters but not absolved ones. Like with Sulley in MU in a less extreme way. Sulley is sympathetic certainly but he still cheated and technically built Mike up before that Scare simulator only for it to come crashing down later. Which he shouldn't have done. Like I watch MU now and a part of my heart breaks when Sulley gets down to talk to Mike before it. Because no. NO. YOU ASS. How could you lie and pretend you believe in him like that. Oh god. It's actually an interesting parallel with Johnny- though Johnny's of course was deliberately malicious and the whole point of building up OK was to reveal the truth of what he thought of them (and Sulley didn't want the truth to come out at all). Regardless- Sulley in his selfishness and fear did something similar. Whatever his motives might have been he still messed up- majorly. In fact it probably would have hurt Mike more because even if this was before they said it out loud subconsciously they both considered each other friends at this stage. Johnny was just some asshole and yeah it hurt OK, Sulley included but what Sulley did hurt them all so much more because he was technically one of them. It was a betrayal. So Sulley had sympathetic reasons but it still sucked that he did it. He was a liar and a cheater whatever his motives and sympathetic reasons. And he shouldn't have done it at all. He still had to make things right. And in a way he did that with some of his words to Mike at the bus. That while he admitted he didn't think Mike was scary at all Mike was still utterly amazing to him in other ways. He was honest this time. They became good friends who helped each other out to achieve their dreams as a team. I agree. Sulley also became more mature in MI. I hope Randall's thing against Sulley resolves as well.

I have this headcanon of Randall met Sulley in an elementary private school. One of those highly established schools and students of the monster family names go there. Kind of silly?? but *shrugs*. I'm one of those who don't think he'd be an orphan. He like has this personalized custom high quality bedding like Louis Vuitton pattern. He even has little slippers which is SO SWEEET OMASG. Like he has to be like somewhat spoiled to have things like that. I am thinking his family may be rich and have a well known reputation, though not as prominent as the Sullivan or Worthington family. If I have any ideas to share in case if I did not add to the post, to be continued...

I have been seeing Boardwalk Empire season 1. I have a lot to catch up on. I imagine Randall at times when Nucky (Steve's character) shows up speaking. >///> The intro to the show is amazing!
