Boo seemed to be gone for a considerable amount of time in the monster world and I think they would have noticed. Naturally the movie doesn't show they frightened and worried about her because that wasn't a point of the story but basically this thread as part of a discussion. Do you think they'd have run into legal trouble? Would they become (understandably) paranoid? Will they ever catch Sulley on his visits? Do you have any head canons on their personality and what not even though we never see them? Do you think Boo has any siblings? Where in the world do you think Boo is from? It's probably in America at the end of the day given it's Pixar and all and that's where they're from but I'd like to hear your thoughts.
Boo seems to be a friendly and happy little girl. And smart for her age really (less than three)- and her drawings are really good for someone her age (and show her real name to be 'Mary' as written on her drawings- so she can even write her name!) so I like to think her parents are pretty encouraging. Her room is pretty big so I think they're pretty well off too. Also Boo's toys seem to be pretty new so if she does have siblings or comes to have them I think she's probably the eldest or older girl in any case. (Even in upper class family's hand me down's can be a thing after all). Though she could be an only child too of course.
So any thoughts or ideas about Boo's family?

Good idea for a thread, and I'm surprised it didn't appear readily discussed before.
Her fear/hate of snakes most likely being nurtured from her parents aside, it's hard to say for me what else they've done for Boo/Mary other than not being abusive; it does appear she has very good parents, as you pointed out yourself. I noticed the toys in her bedroom, particularly the one of Jessie, so perhaps, in the MI universe, Toy Story is a movie franchise that she grew to love as well to the point that her parents bought related merchandise?

Do you guys support the headcanon saying that the little girl in the Butterfly room from Toy Story 3 is an older Boo? I kinda like the idea, actually. (I think she's playing with a stuffed animal? A KITTY?)

This thread was sure quick to get off-topic. XD Partially my fault, I admit.

I think Boo's parents must have noticed she was gone. After all she was gone an entire day. In the human world, her disappearing must have been of "gone without a trace" character - the kinds we hear about in the news.
I imagine her parents contacting the police, and maybe become suspects themselves.

There was a fanfic I saw about Boo's mother reacting to her daughter being missing. I forgot what it was called, though.
I think Boo's from an upper-middle class family, to be honest. Her room's pretty nice for a two-year old's room.

Never read any such fic in-depth beyond summaries, but I think I know the fic you're talking about, importantcake.
And agreed; her room does seem pretty nice for a poor family.

The movie that was scrapped before MU came out had Boo moving, and Sulley found out when he visited during her birthday. Not sure what birthday, but for the sake of this lets say third birthday Maybe her parents were so paranoid about their little girl going missing out of the blue, then coming back with a story about monsters in her closet that it motivated them to move? I also imagine she was pretty determined to find Sull again, probably called her closet 'kitty' and waited for him in front of it, might have drawn pictures of her Sull and Mike together, or the other monsters she saw. (Imagine a little girl whispering to her closet like theres something there, and drawing pictures of monsters to boot) One of her parents could be traumatized from a past monster related experience, either when they were younger (or one of the police from the cabin), or maybe they are just people pron to believe in supernatural things, so to protect their daughter they moved away. Like the people who would survive a horror movie.

Actually according what I heard, she was supposed to be a teen in the movie and if that's the case, if they moved because of any reasons involving monsters, it would have been while she young.

I could imagine Boo's dad (if she has the mother and father set up) would probably feel pretty threatened by Sulley even if they met on normal terms and he realised he wasn't a threat to his daughter. He's pretty much set up as a father figure for her in the original film after all.
