A picture of a close relative of Johnny's when he's shaved below. (Pro-tip though do NOT look up this character on google image search, you don't want to know one of the pictures I saw)Yeah, it's pretty hard to google a character who actually has naked in his name and NOT run into the porn sites, even with safe search enabled.Do you think Johnny knows all the words to the "Naked Mole Rap"?

Spirited Away is my favorite. I think I just feel too sad for Kiki when she starts losing her powers (and the ability to confide in Jiji!) Chihiro in contrast, gains a better outlook on life and she doesn't suffer as big a setback: her parents are restored, for one thing. Also, the American dub of Kiki's Delivery Service is slightly bittersweet to watch knowing it was one of Phil Hartman's last roles. But I do love both movies. Just because I find parts of Kiki's movie sad, doesn't mean it's a bad movie or that I would ever discourage anyone from watching it. Kiki's awesome, her interactions with Tombo are all so cute. She's such a kind and determined little girl. All the Studio Ghibli movies I've seen were quite amazing. I know I've missed a few (such as The Wind Rises and Princess Mononoke.) I loved Ponyo and Howl's Moving Castle (Howl's such a brat and somehow he is charming because of it!) and My Neighbor Totoro. Laputa: Castle in the Sky is also quite good.

I just saw Hachi: A Dog's Tale and *spoilers* When the Prof. passed away, I just started crying and it was pretty much non-stop tears as Hachi waited for his (now deceased) master to return on the train. After 10 years of waiting, poor Hachi finally lies down and sees the spirit of his master, and it got me crying even harder because I remembered how my dog Charlie had gotten into that same stiff lying-down pose before he passed away.
Charlie's been gone for years now, but that scene just made me remember how much I loved him, and how much it hurts to lose somebody you love to old age. The Hachi movie was beautifully done, very melancholy though. At the end the movie talks about the real Hachiko who lived in Japan and waited at the train station every day, even after his own (a Tokyo University professor) died and inspired this modern re-telling. I know they pretty much had to set it in America to save money and to have more commercial appeal, but the basic story about the bond between human and dog was captured well.

Shrek was really amazing. (I used to have the soundtracks for Shrek and Shrek 2 but I lost the CDs. Shame.) I think my current favorite is Kung Fu Panda though. Part of that is because I missed it in theatres, so I saw it for the first time with my husband. He rented it for me even though he's not usually a big fan of animation and we both really enjoyed it.
Po is so sweet and earnest, and I absolutely adored his adopted goose father. The Furious Five didn't all get enough focus in the first movie, but luckily they've gotten some spotlight since. The conflict between Tai Lung and Shifu, and the way that affected how Shifu raised Tigress and trained Po was so sad, but very well done. It is rare to see a animated movie that gives a villain a detailed past and motivation beyond "he's evil" but at the same time, it was clear that Tai Lung was dangerous. I liked that Shifu recognized he had made mistakes in raising Tai Lung, though in the end, Tai Lung was responsible for his own actions.

"Part Of Your World" (The Little Mermaid) "If I Never Knew You" (Pocahontas) "We Are One" (Lion King 2) "Go The Distance" (Hercules) "Almost There" (The Princess And The Frog)
Everything from Aladdin was awesome, as was Beauty and the Beast. I'm also really fond of the Lion King's entire score.

I don't really think that is what people mean when they say that Mike's character drastically changed. If you notice in MU, Mike is a great and diligent student who passes all his tests and turns in all his homework on time, whereas in MI, he is repetitively nagged by Roz to turn in his paper work because he never brings it to her on time. It's rather strange that a monster so inspired and enthusiastic to finish his responsibilities, would all of a sudden decide that those things aren't priority. Secondly, in MU, Mike seemed like a very humble person whose usually very serious about everything, including things outside of his studies. Whenever someone offenses him, he uses facts to back up his claim and prove that the offender is wrong. But in MI, he shows signs of arrogance, for instance when his implies that Sulley was alway jealous of his looks or that he could "marry himself" when he complimented his own romantic abilities. Most of the time, he is also very sarcastic and uses witty comebacks and insults rather than using proven facts. I'm not trying to beat you up or anything, your super awesome I'm just putting what I have on the table. Oh don't worry. I don't mind hearing other analysis. It's great when fans have different perspectives of scenes or characters, and they just have a nice discussion about it. I think I chalked Mike's difference in personality up to a combination of increased status (he's not as much of an underdog anymore) and his relationship with Celia seemed to have boosted his ego. I really wish we had seen Celia in MU, because I think Mike acts a little differently around her than he does around other monsters. Going from being single to having a very serious romance can alter someone's behavior. Sometimes they don't even realize how much they have changed. Maybe Celia convinced Mike to loosen up or be more humorous, and he just went overboard?

OTP Brock/Claire. They work well together as representatives for the Greek Council and Scare Games announcers. (I like how at some point in development their roles switched. Brock was originally draw as the aloof sarcastic one and Claire was a peppy cheerleader. I liked the idea someone had on tumblr that during finals week, the combination of stress + too much coffee makes Brock cynical and Claire hyper enthusiastic. It's a fun nod to what could have been.)
I am also fond of Ms. Flint/Hardscrabble thanks to tumblr. George/Sulley is pretty cute to me, but I don't think it's a popular ship. :<
BroTP: Mike/Sulley. Also Frank McCay/Hank 'The Tank' Knapp for the older generation. For fanon stories Rex Boggs/Boo friendship is adorable.
NoTP: Johnny/Javier (just didn't see anything romantic between them). Randall/Waternoose is so many levels of DO NOT WANT. It would be creepy and abusive and I don't seriously want to contemplate that ever.

I agree. I thought Mike's role in MU tied in nicely to MI and made me understand and appreciate his character alot more. Before MU, Mike seems a bit irritable, stubbornly insisting that he and Sulley have to do things a certain way, and it even looks a little like he is riding Sulley's coat-tails.
MU shows that Mike is absolutely serious about scaring and being a scaring coach. Scenes like Mike telling Sulley 'scary monsters don't have plaque' and getting Sulley to practice roars and scare positions have a deeper meaning now. In MI, you could write those scenes off as comedy, Mike being bossy or trying to get attention when Sulley doesn't need lessons on being scary... but MU shows that Sulley DOES need someone to make him practice and refine his skills, otherwise he'd be lazy and complacent.
Thanks to MU, it's more clear that Mike and Sulley were really partners in the scare industry, not a talented scarer (Sulley) who let his childhood friend (Mike) come along for the ride. Mike was the coach and he worked hard as an assistant, and he inspired Sulley to work harder too. They both had pretty nice lives in MI, but MU showed that wasn't always the case. They both put in so much effort to get where they were, and Mike could see 10 years worth of effort just slipping away because Sulley had a new pet he couldn't control.
And yes, I really do believe that monsters viewed humans as dangerous wild animals, not sentient beings with complicated emotions. Human children were something to be feared in monster society, not something to protect and cherish. People complaining about Mike's treatment of Boo are (generally) basing their criticisms of what behavior they would expect from a human adult. But Mike is not human. He behaves in a way that is typical of his species and then he learns that he was wrong (as was monster society) and so he changes his actions for the better.
Mike is not perfect, but he is a pretty good friend to Sulley and eventually he's a true friend to Boo as well. MU even explains how Mike was able to repair Boo's door at the end of MI, he studied door technology briefly, when he was kicked out of the scaring program. And even though engineering was not Mike's preferred major, he still paid enough attention to Prof. Brandywine's lectures to recall the basics of door construction over 10 years later.

What browser do you use? I had trouble with deviantart before switching from Internet Explorer to Chrome (and getting rid of all Chrome extensions.) Using Chrome finally got deviantart to load properly. Anyway, I have seen many of your fun Wazowski drawings on tumblr.
I need to upload more stuff onto my dA, but I don't know when I'll have the time.

I don't know if Johnny would see the accuracy in the song (or if he'd continue to fool himself) but I have considered this song to be Johnny's theme, ever since I first saw MU. It's from Dashboard Confessional's 2006 album The Shade Of Poison Trees. I can picture Johnny trying and failing to 'slum' around Javier's old neighborhood and nobody buying the lines Johnny is selling.
(Technically, if MU takes place in the early 90's, and assuming monsters have the same bands as humans... somehow... he would probly be listening to 80's new wave and the precursors of indie rock: groups like Aztec Camera, Feargal Sharkey, Adam Ant, Talking Heads, Blondie, Depeche Mode, Dexys Midnight Runners. Perhaps he would enjoy some of the late 70's hits too like Velvet Underground, The Ramones, The Sex Pistols. aka music my father and his friends enjoyed.
If Johnny were a teenager in the late 2000's, like I was, he would be all about Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Smashing Pumpkins, Good Charlotte, Sum 41, Simple Plan, Fall Out Boy, Puddle of Mudd. Regardless, I see Johnny as using his music to 'rebel' against society without really understanding what rebellion is and still conforming to his family's viewpoints- like when Kevin obeyed his father without question in Family Guy but still insisted he listened to Radiohead because he was NOT a machine!
In short, I see Johnny as a poser. He doesn't have a preferred musical style, so much as he listens to what he thinks would irritate his parents and/or boost his reputation as a tough guy. The irony of certain song lyrics would be completely lost on Johnny.)

I picture Boo playing softball when she gets a little older. We already know she's good at using a bat. I think she might be a bit of a tomboy, but maybe with a fondness for animals, particularly kitties.
(I like how in early drafts of MI, Boo had older brothers and I like to think that's still part of her backstory. So she's a bit more rough-and-tumblr then other girls, but at the same time she does enjoy SOME girly things and wears pastel colors by choice. Boo would have totally rushed the EEK sorority had she been a monster.)

Now I'm picturing a Bridget Jones' Diary type spin-off with Waternoose and is ALL YOU GUYS' FAULT.
*pouts* I'll only forgive this if I see more blurry Mike pictures, or if someone draws a "oh Mr. Waternoose!" parody comic (flower crown is optional.)

True, my husband is allergic to cats but he really loves animals and so do I, so he let me adopt some strays. He just takes allergy medication. Maybe Randall developed allergies as an adult, but didn't care because at that point he really wanted to beat Sulley as top Scarer. He just took some pills and powered through it. Maybe a doctor even suggested that Randall change jobs (to avoid allergens) and Randall threatened to put the guy in the shredder unless he wrote a stronger prescription, or something.
Alternately, he's not really allergic to human kids, he's allergic to the baby powder Boo's family uses and Randall just assumes it's related to kids and their toxicity. He never actually consulted any monster physician because that would be an admission of weakness and heck no, he's not taking any time off, especially when Sullivan is already leading in points.
Now I wonder if Randall could actually sound intimidating while stuffed up? (When we're out of nasal spray, my husband says stuff like "my fuggin' siduses are killid me." and I just cannot take him seriously at that moment. Sorry.)

Thank you for scanning this, toxicdolls. It's weird to see how some of the colors changed even at late stages of production. I just can't picture Chet or Omar being anything but reddish-orange! XD
(I'm 5'10 so unless I'm looking at this chart wrong, Sonia Lewis- including her eyestalks- is pretty close to me in height.)
