I'm sure all of us can find something to complain about with this topic.
You know, sometimes I feel really guilty for complaining about my job, because I'm lucky to even have a job. But it just seems like it's getting to me more and more. Customer service is not the best department to work in -_-

Lol, well everything's getting to me now. It used to be just the really rude customers that completely ruined my day. And I may have to deal with them every once in a while, but now little pet peeves are becoming even more bothersome. It's not that the people who do these things are being rude about it, I just don't understand it is all. Here's one example:
Where I work, as with most places, cashiers will ask the customer if they found everything all right. Usually they'll say they did. But sometimes someone will say that there was an item they couldn't find. I always ask them, "Did you ask an employee or a manager in that department if they had any in the back?" I honestly want to know this, but it's also my way of telling them that they really need to ask someone in the grocery department instead of waiting to get to checkout. But people never have the common sense to do this. It's not like cashiers can leave their post and go look. The only thing we can do is flag down one of our customer service staff to call back to grocery and ask someone. And the staff are running the front desk and may be helping customers up there, so they might not even be available. Meanwhile, the other customers in line are having to wait because the person in front of them felt compelled to only ask about an item they were looking for when they started checking out.
Just the other day I had a woman do this. And before I could even try to flag down someone, she's telling me she'll just go to one of our competitors. I freaking HATE it when people do this. It's not because I actually give a damn about them going to a competitor. I don't. It's the fact they're only telling me that to get me mad. Like "How DARE you not carry every product known to man! FOR SHAME! I shall go to your competitor! Don't you feel terrible now?" So once the woman was done with the transaction, I finally managed to ask one of the staff if they could call back and ask. And the woman says "No, there weren't any on the shelf, I looked." Really, lady? Are you not aware that there is an entire world of groceries in the back? Do you seriously think what's on the shelves is literally all we have? Like SERIOUSLY? I just told her, "Well, they can call someone in the back to check if they have any back there. But if they don't carry it, they can do a special order for you."
It's the same thing when customers have a complaint about something or someone in another department. What do they do? They tell the cashiers. Do you think they complain to the manager in that department? Nope. Tell the cashiers, because everyone knows cashiers have ALL the power. And then when we point out one of the managers to them to voice their complaints, they don't even bother. Seriously, I can't with this crap anymore. And that's just ONE of many pet peeves I have with customer service.
About a week ago I asked the assistant customer service manager if they needed help in produce, and she said she wasn't sure. The day before yesterday I got back to her and she said she'd ask the assistant store manager as soon as he came in. A few hours later I was pulled into the office and I discussed it with him. They DO need help. You can literally count the number of employees back there on one hand, and that's including management. One guy transferred recently, and another guy is down to one day a month. And the department doesn't even have a manager now. They had two people from grocery department back there yesterday just helping out. So I'm hoping they'll be pretty quick to start training me back there. I think I really just need to get away from the front.

So I'm hoping they'll be pretty quick to start training me back there. I think I really just need to get away from the front. I can relate to a lot of this. I work in a shop a Saturday a month or something, and there are some really difficult customers every now and then. Last summer, during the sale, a woman brought a blouse to the counter and asked for the price, and I told her it was 600nok, since it was half off. Then she got all angry with me, and told me that "that particular brand wasn't normally that expensive". I was like "well, but THIS piece used to cost 1200, because it's silk - see" and I showed her the tag and all. She continued though, and kept telling me how that brand used to be cheaper. I told her that the price on the blouse was decided by the designer in Oslo, and then she just left. There was also this rude guy last year, who said something like "It's a shame that store across the bridge had to close, they sold such nice things for our home. But I guess Fredrikstad's population doesn't care for nice things the way we do in Oslo. People from this place aren't the brightest, but you actually look like you could be from Oslo, at least you talk very well". He was in the store with his wife for an hour, and kept on ranting about how successful he was and how Oslo was better than Fredrikstad the whole time.

I have a problem with this one girl I work with who is always mean to the kids. I HATE her. One time a little boy had an accident while he was napping and she was yelling at him in front of all of the other kids while they were waiting for a story. He was crying so much and she just left him in the middle of the room in his underwear with all of the other kids I was so mad. I'm not supposed to get involved because I'm not a full time employee but screw her I put him on my lap and rocked him until he stopped crying and then she told me off for that. Jerk. That's just one example she's done lots of really mean things but the good thing is the other employees know what she's like so when I comfort the children or go against her bad judgement she may yell at me but they always tell the manager I didn't do anything wrong.

I don't normally have excess stress at work due to it being part time; usually the stress is reserved for my classwork. However, I did recently get my own taste of the observation from my supervisor that people are getting ruder as the years ago by.
My job is a campus job for basic tech support, and a few weeks ago, I got a call from someone who lost their student ID. Our computer centers have a policy that ID's need to be turned over the the campus police immediately once found, but when I tried telling her that, she exploded at me, refusing to listen to anyone but herself about whether her ID was in the lab. Eventually I just hung up on the brat.

It's really frustrating if you haven't been working with kids as long as someone else or you have a lower position than them they make out you are being a douche. The problem with a lot of people is they work with kids but they don't actually like kids even a little bit.
