What was the first fanfic you read? The first one you wrote? How did you find out fanfiction existed? Did you like the idea of it to begin with? Let's share our experiences! I discovered there was something called fanfiction after the fifth Harry Potter movie was released, when I was obsessed with Bellatrix. I kept googling her, and came across different fanfics - I read a chapter here and there, but hated the idea of fanfiction in general. I remember thinking that "omg, how much of a nerd must you be to actually do this?" x) A couple of years later I was really into Kim Possible, and Drakken and Shego in particular. Once again I came across a fanfic (which I enjoyed), but I still didn't like the idea of it. Last August my Randall-obsession escalated to new heights after I watched MU. I googled him a lot, and came across different fanfics. At first I thought it was stupid, but as I started reading I got more and more into it. And before I knew what was happening I was writing a story of my own.

Jimmy Neutron for me! I was...11? And it was New Years Eve and my Dad let me stay up and use the computer. I was a hardcore Jimmy/Cindy shipper back in the day and I was on the Nickelodeon forums when i found my first fanfic. I dicovered fanfiction.net that same night. I joined at age 12 and I've now been writing fanfiction for 8 years!

My first encounter with fanfiction was a Pokemon self-insert fic. I thought it was the coolest stuff ever (to be fair, I was eleven). My first published fanfic was an Invader Zim one which I'd... rather not talk about.

I think it was the ninja turtles really. I came to it late and even wrote my first fanfiction based on the 2003 show not too long after discovering such a thing existed online. It... was fun to write but it wasn't that good. And so many grammar mistakes among other things. Haha. It was Raph centric though which is odd because my favourite turtle was Leo. Still writing fanfiction helped me out in some ways english teachers never did when people critiqued it. They were actually really nice in offering me suggestions when it came to my errors!

Let's see....my first encounter dates back over eleven years ago. I was really into the Mummy films and I had joined a message board that was centered around the actor Brendan Fraser. It was there that a few users mentioned writing Mummy fics at FFN, and that's how I discovered the site, as well as the concept of fanfiction in general. As for the first fanfiction I ever read, I can't honestly tell you that. I just know that it was a Mummy fic, and my first story was a Mummy fic as well. Thankfully that abomination is looong gone.

My first encounter with fanfiction was on the Randall Fans United website. My English wasn't particularly good back then, and - with the exception of The Lord of the Rings, perhaps - no franchise had any fan website in my native language. Naturally, I'd needed a good incentive to search the web in English, and Randall/MI gave me such incentive I have yet to write and publish a fanfiction in English, though. Not that I hadn't had ideas, but I have yet to put them on (digital) paper.
