We don't get to see much of his back story or much of his personality, other than the pompous, jerky side and with that alone people give him and fans hate. But with that alone and those small facial expression shots we get, we can agree that he's a pretty complex character with fears, likes, dislikes, and so on.
A while back on tumblr, I had posted this; "Growing up, Johnny was small and shy. Because of his shyness and size, he was always bullied and just left alone. His father hated that his son wasn’t liked and he doubted if Johnny was ever going to grow into his size and become a scarer, resulting in his father being so hard on him.
When Johnny entered middle school, he hit a small rebellious stage. He acted up in class and never really paid attention. He was still bullied and that resulted in fights at school.
Over the summer between middle and high school, puberty was good to Johnny and he put his rebellious energy into scaring until it became natural for him. During that summer, despite his progress in his scaring and puberty, the loneliness caught up to him and he hit a depressed stage in his life.
When he entered high school, everyone was after Johnny because they no longer saw him as just someone to pick on. Most only used him for his wealth though.
Johnny is afraid of being alone again, that’s why he uses his popularity in college to his advantage. To lose his popularity scares Johnny, no matter how much he won’t admit it."
But of course, not everyone will agree, and that's fine, but I am curious to know about what other back stories and traits about Johnny that other people have. *insert stupid english class joke that I was gonna say but it was too stupid and embarrassing here*

I always saw Johnny as a proudful monster even as he was young. I mean his character in MU makes him out to be that and a little mean too but still. But it is different for everyone.

Johnny is a push over and gets bullied, hes no longer smaller, but he is still scrawny. I actually like the theory (I think about it a lot, even some where Johnny was a total nerd, who eventually gave up being himself for his parents) though I don't follow it as personal head canon, I think he was always popular, but for the wrong reasons, kids knew he was rich so he was constantly being used for his money, and now that hes older its the same thing, and he can't tell the difference between sincerity and being used anymore (So in a way he becomes closed off to making real friends due to this belief that everyone is after him for his money/name, which is why he teats those in his social circle so poorly (Because they use him, so he will use them back, and once their use has run out he will discard them without a hint of guilt) Actually, Randall is the perfect example of this. Randall was using Johnny to become popular and get with 'the cool kids', which I think is what everyone does to him, they don't want to be his friend, they are only interested in what social status he can give them. He used Randall and treated him poorly (because he knew what Randall wanted, Randall would put up with a lot to get it) and in the end Randall failed to hold up his end of their unspoken deal and Johnny of course took away everything he was given. I think he was pressured a lot by his parents and grandparents, but at the same time he was spoiled to no end. Instead of giving Johnny attention and love they would just buy him whatever he wanted, which included when he would cry or have a trumpeter tantrum. He worked hard at becoming a scarer because that was the only time his parents seemed to take any interest in him. I also think he was raised mostly by nanny's then his parents. So in the end he grew up spoiled, with little respect for anyone, he leaned to judge people straight away based on what good they could do for him and has a pretty bleak world view, thinking everyone is out for themselves, so naturally he is too. ((Also if you watch the interview from his Voice actor he talks a bit about Johnny's up bringing and his dad. Its interesting if you've not seen it )

OHHH I also had this really cute idea where Johnny's species learn to walk up straight a lot later then other monsters (due to their small legs and bigger upper body) so he would not be able to stand until he was around 6 or 7, he would have to walk on all fours. *0* Let me know what you guys think :3

Just picture baby Johnny walking on all fours like a lion cub. *.* I actually really like that idea. And they save walking on all fours for scaring or whenever they need the speed.

Adorable yes! and it goes with the bullied idea, other kids would laugh at him for it, since they would know little about monster Bio at that point, well besides their own species. Johnny might feel like an outcast since he cant even walk proper yet, but as a baby he would have been mobile before they were. I also think its an image thing, if he walked on all fours he would be a lot shorter then other monsters, there's something more intimidating about looming over them like a tower, yeah all fours would be more for sneaking around and gaining speed.

Johnny is a winner. John-John fails at nothing, which means he succeeded in raising Johnny. So Johnny is a winner by default!

Naturally, Johnny's backstory always interested me, as my favorite character. Not sure how many people have seen this, but I feel this gave me more insight into how Johnny became the arrogant person he is. I somehow feel like I can take his voice actor's word on it as canon, crazy as that may seem. XD
