This is going to sound kind of strange but while Johnny actually has the potential based on his appearance to scare me when I was a kid- with the technique he used in the Scare Games all he'd do is make me jump a bit. I guess you could say as a kid I was utterly terrified of things like demons (and heck for a lot of my teen years), but I was terrified of them because they were supposed to be intelligent in some way. The way Johnny scares is more like well, an animal soooo... Yeah not really the reason I feared demons. I would jump, don't get me wrong but I wouldn't be utterly terrified. He could maintain an animalistic streak and still be utterly terrifying- and add an edge too. But Johnny's appearance screams 'demon' and he doesn't fully utilise it IMO. Plus as we see in the cabin Sulley can pull off the terrifying wild animal thing better then he can with the right assistance and encouragement. Look at that face though just as Chet is taking a picture though among other things. Now that for child!me would have been the face of pure and utter horror. Stare at me like that a little Johnny. Pull a version of the Squishy!technique and then rush me. Or something like that. Idk. Been giving this question some thought upon seeing this thread, and my conclusion: I'd have to agree with polkadots. The way Johnny looks during the prank, combined with his actual scaring, would've made me paranoid if I were younger, and even now, both instances make me feel uneasy.

The librarian actually did scare me a little in the movie. I also feel like Waxford from MI with his multiple eyeballs has the potential to creep me out. Characters whose personalities we really got to know (such as Squishy, Mike, the Perry Brothers, or Frank McCay) are less likely to scare me because I already know they're nice, even though they have tentacles or an unusual number of eyes.
I think too many of them actually look cute, especially the animal based ones. Omar, the little bat guy from JOX is absolutely adorable to me. (I'm somebody who used Crobats with HM Fly for most of her Pokemon teams. I wouldn't have picked them if I didn't think bats were cool.)

I think, Earl "The Terror" Thompson, especially after I read his description (they described him as resembling a tarantula.) I didn't think he was that bad at first, but ever since being reminded of a tarantulas (I hate spiders), I think he's kinda creepy. <__>

Well, in general I tend to panic in overwhelming situations, so a huge monster who can be loud like Sulley or Johnny would probably scare me the most.
However, if the monsters somehow found out that, in the year 2001, a certain very foolish and dinosaur-obsessed little seven-year-old girl had managed to convince her father to let her watch Jurassic Park, and was so determined to tough it out and hide her fear that she ended up watching the whole thing including the part with Samuel L.'s severed arm and the kitchen scene, and for months afterward would wake her parents up in the middle of the night crying that there were Velociraptors under her bed, then during those months Randall or another reptilian monster with prominent sharp teeth could get a whole lot of scream energy if they were able to do a decent raptor impression.

Sorry now all I can imagine is Randall coming into a kids room like this
